Ola Adopts Siemens Digital Enterprise Solution for Electric Vehicle Plant in Tamil Nadu


Ola will deploy Siemens Digital Enterprise software to build its electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. The announcement comes nearly a month after Ola signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Tamil Nadu to invest nearly 2,400 crore rupees in the construction of its first facility in the state.

The plant will generate nearly 10,000 jobs and with an initial capacity of 2 million units per year, it will be the largest scooter manufacturing plant in the world. It will serve as Ola’s global manufacturing center for customers in India as well as key markets in Europe, UK, Latin America and ANZ.

Ola says her factory will be built on Industry 4.0 principles and will be the most advanced manufacturing facility in the country. It will have nearly 5,000 robots deployed in various functions. Ola will have access to integrated Siemens Digital Twin design and manufacturing solutions to digitize and validate product and production before actual operations.

The factory will be AI powered with Ola’s proprietary AI engine and technology stack deeply integrated into every aspect of the manufacturing process, continuously self-learning and optimizing every aspect of the manufacturing process. This will provide unprecedented control, automation and quality to all operations, especially with Ola’s implementation of advanced cyber-physical and IoE systems.

All material handling at the Ola plant will be fully automated for maximum efficiency, from raw materials to the movement of materials within the plant, to storage, to the finished scooter coming out of the lines. production and is loaded onto trucks.
